Eastern Mongolia 8 days tour

Day 1. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, guests will be picked up at the airport. Leaving Ulaanbaatar early in the morning, the journey will pass through Baganuur, cross the Kherlen River by bridge, and head towards Khara Zurkhnyn Khuun Lake. This lake is historically significant as it is the place where, in 1189, Temujin was proclaimed the Khan of the Mongols and received the title of Genghis Khan. You will stay overnight at a tourist camp."

Day 2. Khar Zurkh lake & Bereeeven monastery

In the morning, you will depart from Khar Zurkh Lake and travel through Khangal Lake, reaching Bereeven Monastery for an overnight stay. At its peak, Bereeven Monastery was one of the largest in Mongolia, with 5,000-6,000 monks. During the 1850s, some changes were made to the main temple, marking its peak period. In 1937, the monastery was destroyed, and for the next 60 years, a decree prohibited people from visiting the site.
The area around Bereeven Monastery is surrounded by pine and larch forests with granite rock formations, and a small lake is located in front. Pilgrims traditionally walk around the monastery. Small forest birds can also be spotted in the area. You will stay overnight at the camp.

Day 3. Khorhonog Valley & Visit nomadic family

In the morning, you will leave the monastery and head towards the Onon River, traveling down the Khorhonog Valley. On the way, you will visit the sacred Binder Ovoo, located at the junction of Binder, Batshireet, and Umnodelger Sums, as well as the ancient sites such as Oglogchiin Kherem, Rashaan Rock, and the place mentioned in the Secret History of the Mongols, Khuldgar Khun.
You may also encounter rare birds in the Khurkh Valley. In the evening, you will arrive at the Onon River and stay overnight by its banks. A traditional fire festival can be held. You will camp in tents and have the opportunity to visit a local family to learn about their lifestyle.

Day 4. Binder Sum

On this day, you will explore the historical, cultural, and natural landmarks near Binder Sum. You will visit the Tourist Camp and stay overnight there.

Day 5. Dadal Sum

On this day, you will visit the Hatad Memorial located in Bayan-Adraga Sum and then cross the Onon River by bridge. You will continue to the Three Lakes Resting Place in Dadal Sum and stay overnight there. Along the way, you will visit the Khaju Bulag, the Genghis Khan Statue, and the Balj River.

Day 6. Batnorov & Steppe horse camp

On this day, you will visit the Friendship Monument in Batnorov Sum. stay overnight at a Steppe Horse camp. You can experience camp activities like horse riding, horse performance, hunting with dogs etc. 

Day 7. Back to Ulaanbaatar city

You will arrive in the city by the afternoon and enjoy a half-day city tour.

Day 8. Departure

After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and begin your journey back to Ulaanbaatar.
